Why Stack Overflow
Every month, over 100 million developers visit Stack Overflow to find answers, learn new technologies, and share their expertise. Beyond the public Q&A platform that transformed how developers learn, Stack Overflow also offers Stack Overflow for Teams—a private knowledge base used by engineering teams at companies like Microsoft, Zappos, and Expensify—and OverflowAI, which brings AI-powered assistance to developers through their familiar interface.
The team is fully remote with employees distributed across multiple time zones. Work happens asynchronously—employees set their own working hours through shared calendars and Slack statuses, and there are no mandated core hours. Virtual team events include cooking classes, "bev bashes" (their term for happy hours), and regular ERG programming that ranges from Black & Brown to LGBTQ+ to neurodiversity communities.
Stack Overflow offers 100% company-paid health insurance for employees and families, 16 weeks parental leave at full pay with an optional part-time return for up to a year, and equity for all employees at all levels. Remote workers receive home office setup allowances, monthly internet stipends, and fitness reimbursements. The company also provides annual tuition reimbursement, professional development budgets, access to LinkedIn Learning and other platforms, plus 1:1 career coaching. Summer Fridays provide additional flexibility during warmer months.
