Recharge builds the subscription platform that ecommerce brands, most of them on Shopify, use to run recurring orders and keep customers buying. Its mission is to make retention better for everyone, and brands such as quip, Dr. Squatch, Blueland, Oats Overnight and Bobbie run their subscription programs on it. The company was founded in 2014.

ReCharge's Remote Policy

Current postings support that, with one caveat. Most openings are listed as remote, with pay ranges for the United States and Canada, but at least one Customer Success Manager role is "a hybrid role based out of our Toronto office; 3 days per week in the office is expected." The company is headquartered in Santa Monica, California, and its 2024 values put live collaboration first: "We prioritize live collaboration to make progress and solve problems."

Why ReCharge

Recharge works on the part of ecommerce that comes after the first sale: subscription management and recurring billing. Its own tagline sums up the job as "building the future of commerce around customer retention", so the work centres on keeping a brand's customers subscribed, not on winning one-off checkouts. Co-founders Oisin O'Connor (CEO) and Mike Flynn (CTO) still lead the company.

In January 2024 Recharge rewrote its values. Humility, Empathy, Ownership and Day One gave way to Accountability, Collaboration, Iteration and Details. The Collaboration value is worth reading closely if you are weighing a remote role: "We prioritize live collaboration to make progress and solve problems," with "I'm calling now" as its shorthand. Expect a culture that picks up the call to unblock work rather than leaving everything to written threads. Earlier posts from 2020 describe how the distributed team stayed connected then: bi-weekly town halls, daily check-ins, and guided meditation and yoga sessions over Zoom.
