Stedi's engineering team runs without servers: in its own words, "We don't run a single server." Its platform runs on AWS, almost entirely on serverless services, with infrastructure defined as code, and most API backends and the EDI parsing engine are written in Rust. Customers get support through shared Slack and Teams channels, and the company says every ticket is answered by a human.

Writing sits at the center of how the team works. Founder Zack Kanter's engineering culture document, The unwritten laws of engineering at Stedi, says "writing should almost always precede action" and that "Security is job zero." The company's standards fall into two groups, Ownership and Operational obsession, with lines like "Be negative maintenance," "Apply the minimum effective dose" and "Write important things down." Engineers and designers ship products week in and week out, supported by a lean business team.
