Trail of Bits

Few security firms leave a public trail this deep. Trail of Bits has put out 946 publications and 620 audit reports, and maintains more than 200 open-source security repositories on GitHub. It runs the Empire Hacking community Slack and partners with OpenAI on Patch the Planet, an initiative to harden open-source security. By its own description, it is one of the most concentrated benches of security expertise anywhere.

The culture rewards curiosity, deep technical work, and visible public output: engineers ship open-source tools, present at conferences, and publish research. Teams are distributed across multiple time zones, and internal R&D projects are part of the normal rhythm rather than a side activity.
