Veeva builds the industry cloud for life sciences: software for clinical trials, regulatory submissions, quality management, safety, and commercial data, used by pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies including AstraZeneca. Founded in 2007, it is a vertical software company, and everything it ships is built for one heavily regulated industry rather than adapted from general-purpose tools.

Veeva's Remote Policy

From Veeva's Work Anywhere page: "Work Anywhere means you can work in an office or at home on any given day. It's about getting the work done in the way and place that works best for each person. This applies across all locations and departments."

Veeva is explicit about the limits. "Work Anywhere does not mean work at any time. We have predictable core hours where employees are generally available for meetings and collaboration." Product teams are organized into regional product hubs and "live within a time zone of their hub"; the current hubs are Pleasanton, Columbus, Boston, Kansas City, New York City, Raleigh, and Toronto. Customer-facing roles such as Sales and Professional Services "live near and/or travel to their customers." Offices stay open as optional hubs, and employees who come in three or more days a week get a dedicated workspace, but no attendance minimum is published. On pay, the company states: "When an employee moves within a country it does not cause a change in salary."

Why Veeva

In February 2021, Veeva became the first public company to convert to a Public Benefit Corporation, with a stated public benefit purpose of helping the industries it serves become more productive and creating high-quality employment opportunities. That structure shows up in commitments a candidate can actually check. Veeva does not require any employee anywhere in the world to sign a non-compete agreement, a position it repeats in its annual SEC filing, and it says it has taken legal action to fight other companies' use of those agreements. Its 1% Veeva Giving program hands every employee the equivalent of 1% of base salary to direct to the non-profits of their choice, with the company explicitly declining to steer it: "We don't dictate favored corporate causes or ask employees to donate to specific non-profits." Generation Veeva runs structured development programs for recent university graduates.

Four core values guide the company: do the right thing, customer success, employee success, and speed. The fourth is the one worth asking about in interviews. Veeva defines speed as doing important things quickly and correctly the first time, which sets an expectation of high ownership and a fast clock. Ask the team you would be joining what that pace looks like week to week, and how career progression is handled.
