Ballotpedia's Remote Policy
From Ballotpedia's careers page: "Since Ballotpedia does not have a physical workplace, all team members work comfortably from home (many alongside their families and pets) across the country and numerous time zones." The page adds: "Most teams have the chance to meet in person about once per year. Some roles may require more frequent travel."

Why Ballotpedia
Ballotpedia's ambition is plain: cover every election in America. It began in Madison, Wisconsin, as a handful of volunteers and grew into a nationwide research and editorial organization. In 2020 it fully committed to remote-first operations, and its editorial and data teams expanded across the country. Today staff researchers and writers work on teams covering law, policy, and events.
Work runs on a policy called BP Flex. Nobody has to keep a fixed schedule, but every team and individual has set deadlines and availability expectations. Teams hold regularly scheduled meetings, many of them mandatory, and the policy asks organizers to account for participants' time zones and to consider whether a meeting is the right format at all. Staff collaborate in Google Workspace, Asana, and Slack, and Ballotpedia runs on the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). Learning comes through management training, Innovation Hours, and Master Classes, and colleagues recognize one another through staff-nominated awards such as Employee of the Week.
