PostHog is your product’s context layer. It ingests and stores your analytics, errors, replays, and business data so you and your agents can query and act on it.
We launched out of Y Combinator's W20 cohort. We've since shipped more than a dozen products, including:
We are:
We're focused on building an awesome product for end users, hiring exceptional teammates, shipping fast, and being as weird as possible.
We have a strong brand and a lot of strong content for you to build on. What we don't have (yet) is someone whose whole job is making it move.
You'll be PostHog's first in-house video animator, and the creative engine behind everything that moves in our visuals.
We take video seriously (although we’re not really so serious). Our Video team ships documentaries, product launches, ads, social shorts, and more.
Right now, there’s no single owner of motion at PostHog, so the effort comes from several people, each with their own style, and most animation gets added at the very end of post-production. It doesn't move like one brand.
Your job will be to give it one. You'll be the creative engine behind PostHog's animated visuals. Your fingerprints will be on how PostHog moves, everywhere, but primarily in video.
This isn't a pure motion graphics role. We need someone who can also draw. You'll eventually design and illustrate your own assets as well as animate them, and sometimes you might even ship illustrations that never move at all.
Simply put, you care about the craft, have opinions about what makes animation great, and have a showreel that proves it.
The work spans product launches, feature trailers, changelogs, social shorts, minidocs, animated ads, GIFs on our website, and even icons inside the PostHog app. One day you might be working out how the hedgehog walks; the next, rebuilding our UI in 3D for a launch.
Styles range from clean motion graphics to fully illustrated, character-led animation. If your showreel only has one style in it, this probably isn't the role for you.
We expect you to be:
❌ Executing someone else's storyboard frame by frame. You'll get briefs, not blueprints, and we'll expect you to have ideas of your own.
❌ Cutting full videos. We have editors for that. Knowing your way around an edit helps, but it isn't the job.
❌ Picking one house style and never leaving it.
❌ Making corporate explainers where a flat-shaded person waves at a laptop.
If you have a disability, please let us know if there's any way we can make the interview process better for you - we're happy to accommodate!

PostHog runs three interviews before the final stage: a talent interview, a technical interview with the hiring manager, and a small-team interview with a member of the exec team. The final stage is a SuperDay, a paid full day of real work arranged flexibly around your schedule. PostHog pays every candidate a flat $1,000 for it.
Yes. PostHog's public salary calculator returns an approximate starting salary before you apply. Behind it sits a published ladder of six levels - Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Staff, Director and Principal - and four steps within each level, Learning, Established, Thriving and Expert, which decide where in the range you land. PostHog also states it is open to paying well beyond those published ranges for exceptional talent.
Stock options vest over four years with monthly vesting and a one-year cliff, and you get 10 years from the grant date to exercise them after you leave - most companies give 90 days. Double-trigger acceleration applies if you are let go in connection with an acquisition. PostHog has also run liquidity events, an employee secondary and a tender offer, giving team members a route to sell some of their shares, and says it plans to run more.
Time off is unlimited, with a required minimum of 25 days per year. Sick leave and parental leave are separate and do not count against it.
Yes. Every team member gets $300 a month toward a co-working space or coffee shops, charged straight to a company card. PostHog also runs two Hedge Houses in the UK, a small one in Cambridge where team members can stay for free and a larger one in London, plus Hogpatch in San Francisco. It funds one fully paid all-company offsite a year at up to $3,000 per person and one small-team offsite at up to $2,000 per person, with a hackathon as the centrepiece, and gives everyone a quarterly budget to meet up locally with colleagues they don't work with day to day.
PostHog offers to be the first investor in a team member's new company if they spend two years there and then leave to start one.
