As we establish our India Engineering Center of Excellence (COE), we are looking for an experienced Associate Product Design Engineer. As an Associate Product Design Manager at Bitwarden, you will step into a leadership role that blends people management with hands-on product design. You believe security products can be both protective and genuinely delightful to use — and you want to help a team of designers bring that vision to life. You’ll support, coach, and grow a small team of product designers while continuing to contribute to the craft yourself. You’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineering leads, and cross-functional partners to shape the overall design direction across the Bitwarden platform.
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced IC designer ready to take their first step into formal people management — without fully stepping away from the work they love. Bitwarden is an all-remote team.
The Product Design team at Bitwarden is dedicated to simplifying the management of sensitive data for users of all skill levels, with a focus on creating user-friendly experiences that enhance efficiency and security. We aim to provide clear options and guide users toward best practices. Bitwarden’s design team strives to create experiences where everyone can manage their data with confidence, fostering trust through a consistent and transparent approach. Yes. Bitwarden is a fully distributed, all-remote company. Team members work from home across many US states and more than 14 countries, with no in-office requirement.
Roles are region-scoped rather than open worldwide. Bitwarden posts positions for the US, the United Kingdom, and the broader EMEA region. US roles have no time-zone preference but do not include visa sponsorship, so you need to already be authorized to work in the role's region.
Benefits include a company-provided computer plus up to $500 in home office reimbursement, 401(k) contributions, 20 days of flexible time off with 11 flexible holidays (an extra week of vacation kicks in after four years), and $500 a year for skill development. In the US, medical, dental, and vision premiums are covered; internationally, benefits are calculated into pay.
For US roles, yes. Bitwarden discloses a base salary range on individual job postings, noting actual pay varies by level, experience, and location. Compensation outside the US is not published on postings because it differs by market.
People who value working in the open. Because the codebase is open source and development is community-driven, Bitwarden suits engineers and other roles comfortable with public scrutiny, security-first thinking, and self-directed work on a distributed team that spans time zones.
