At Affirm, we exist for the moments that matter—giving people a clear, predictable way to pay over time, with no hidden fees, no surprises, and no tradeoffs on what matters most.
As an intern at Affirm, you will be a contributing member of our outstanding engineering team, and as such you will work on meaningful projects and frequently ship code. Recent grads and past interns have built a real-time high-throughput data processing pipeline, developed an extensive automated testing framework, and built out our proprietary financial platform that is central to our long term company mission.
We are excited to meet and consider strong students for our 12-16 week internships. We are a dynamic organization that is happy to tailor projects to your skills, and we will work with you throughout the interview process to determine which team will be best for you.
What You'll Do
Interns are responsible for developing and shipping a project and verifying that it works in production. Because things are changing fast at Affirm, we do not specify intern projects in advance, instead you will collaborate with your mentor and manager when you start to spec a project that will best contribute to your team.
Compensation is a set amount for the Intern role with no range.
USA hourly base pay: $50.00
USA monthly base pay: $8,700

Yes. The company also brings teams together in person through offsites, gatherings, and collaborative working sessions.
Affirm covers 100 percent of medical premiums at every plan level for employees and their dependents, and backs that with dedicated mental health programs. Birth and non-birth parents both get 18 weeks of paid leave followed by a 4-week return-to-work transition at full base pay, and an employee stock purchase plan lets you buy Affirm shares at a discount.
Applications run through Greenhouse, and Affirm is unusually open about how it screens: AI-powered tools may help compare your resume against role requirements, but the company states that all hiring decisions are made by humans and no candidate is automatically rejected by an AI system. Candidates can request accommodations or an alternative selection process by contacting the recruiting team.
Affirm calls its people Affirmers and looks for candidates who are motivated rather than intimidated by complex problems in consumer finance. The stated values favor transparency and accountability, summed up in principles like people come first, no fine print, and it's on us.
