The Senior Financial Crime Business Banking Investigator team serves as Monzo’s frontline defence against complex economic crime, safeguarding our ecosystem and customers, from startups to established SMEs, against sophisticated fraud and money laundering. Operating within a specialised, risk-focused "Pillar," this critical operational team builds deep subject matter expertise to ensure financial integrity across the entire customer lifecycle. The team is responsible for conducting rigorous onboarding and ongoing compliance checks, unravelling complex financial crime typologies, and directly mitigating risk through thorough investigation, reporting, and account closures.
You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 5:30pm. You will also work one full weekend (Saturday and Sunday) once every 4 weeks, with 2 set days in lieu provided when working the weekend shift.
We cannot approve any time off during your first 6 weeks of employment with us due to training. Your training will be held Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm.
💰 Salary range of £31,100 - £39,350 + Incentive Awards tied to your performance

No. Monzo tells engineering candidates that it values meeting in person but has no mandated office attendance requirement, even for engineers who live near an office. If you live outside London and Monzo asks you to come in, it supports you with the costs. The offices tend to be most social from Tuesday to Thursday.
Anywhere in the UK. Remote roles at Monzo do not extend outside the UK, and its engineers are spread across the country, from Brighton to the Western Isles. Monzo's roles in its EU offices are office-based rather than remote, and visa sponsorship is available for certain roles.
Monzo says it trusts people to work enough hours to do the job well, at times that suit them and their team. Customer operations roles are the exception and work set shifts. Monzo also tells engineering candidates that it keeps meetings to core hours and will make part-time working happen whenever it can.
Monzo offers 26 days' holiday plus bank holidays, or 34 days if you opt out of bank holidays. Everyone can also take 1 month of unpaid leave every year, and there are 8 weeks of paid sabbatical leave after every 5 years of service. Compassionate leave is 10 days as standard, with grief counselling.
Primary caregivers with 13 weeks' service get 26 weeks at full pay, then 13 weeks at statutory maternity pay and 13 weeks unpaid. Secondary caregivers get 13 weeks at full pay plus 39 weeks unpaid. Monzo also offers up to 8 days of paid fertility treatment leave a year, up to 10 days of additional paid leave for pregnancy loss, and fertility and family-forming health education.
Salaries are reviewed every year, and an Incentive Award tied to performance can be paid as cash, equity or a mix. Monzo contributes 4% of base salary to your pension and matches additional contributions up to a maximum of 6%. Each employee gets a learning budget of 1,000 pounds a year for books, training courses and conferences. Monzo is also an accredited Living Wage employer.
