As a Staff Design System Engineer on the UI Foundation team at Bitwarden, you will be responsible for building and maintaining core front-end cross-cutting areas of our codebase. This includes implementing a shared design system and UI component library for use in our web, desktop, and browser extension clients, supporting other teams in identifying and executing on opportunities for componentization and reusability, and ensuring that our teams have proper tooling and design documentation to enable success. Our UI Foundation team is just that: foundational to the design and user experience of our Bitwarden application portfolio. We’re looking for someone who brings consistent, independently-driven accountability and responsibility combined with strong collaboration skills – someone who has shown a propensity to find and work through solutions on a regular basis, mentoring others along the way.
This is an all-remote team and we’re looking for someone located in the US. We do not offer visa sponsorship at this time.
In the United States, the starting base compensation range for this role is $180,000 - $245,000. Actual compensation may vary based on level, relevant experience, and skill set as assessed in the interview process, as well as market data by location. See our careers page for a list of benefits. Yes. Bitwarden is a fully distributed, all-remote company. Team members work from home across many US states and more than 14 countries, with no in-office requirement.
Roles are region-scoped rather than open worldwide. Bitwarden posts positions for the US, the United Kingdom, and the broader EMEA region. US roles have no time-zone preference but do not include visa sponsorship, so you need to already be authorized to work in the role's region.
Benefits include a company-provided computer plus up to $500 in home office reimbursement, 401(k) contributions, 20 days of flexible time off with 11 flexible holidays (an extra week of vacation kicks in after four years), and $500 a year for skill development. In the US, medical, dental, and vision premiums are covered; internationally, benefits are calculated into pay.
