Can I work for GitLab from any country?

Not quite any. GitLab hires where it has a legal entity, including the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Ireland, Netherlands, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Australia, and several others, plus PEO and contractor arrangements in more locations. It does not currently hire in countries without an entity or PEO, and some roles carry location-based eligibility requirements.

What are the standout benefits?

A Growth and Development fund of up to $10,000 USD per year, up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave after 6 months of tenure, and flexible PTO with a recommended minimum of 25 days off. Team members also get Modern Health with 6 free therapy and 6 free coaching sessions per year, plus equity and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

Does GitLab use AI in its hiring process?

Yes. GitLab uses AI to enhance interviews while keeping people at the center of hiring decisions, and publishes ethical guidelines on how it does so. Candidates are also allowed to transparently use AI during the interview process.

Who tends to do well at GitLab?

People who work well against its three operating principles: Speed with Quality, Ownership Mindset, and Customer Outcomes. Comfort with public documentation helps too, since anyone can propose changes to the company handbook through a merge request.

Yes, occasionally. GitLab holds in-person Summits, all-company gatherings that typically run for a week; the March 2024 Summit brought more than 1,800 team members to Las Vegas. Day to day, the company blends asynchronous and synchronous working styles rather than being async-only.
