Since 2013, we’ve been building a CRM that gets out of your way and helps your team sell more, faster. Now we’re building AI into every part of it, so Close does the busywork and your team does the selling. No manual data entry, no 10-click workflows. Just communication-first, AI-powered sales software designed to help you succeed and scale.
We're bootstrapped and profitable which means we answer to our customers and play by our rules. We're proud of our 120-person, 100% remote team, focused on building Close so that no small, scaling business fails because it can't figure out sales.
Our frontend is a single-page TypeScript web app built in React. We bundle with Vite and target modern browsers only. We test with Vitest, React Testing Library, Playwright, and Chromatic for visual regression. Our UI updates in near real-time using WebSockets and WebRTC, is styled via CSS modules, and is performance-tuned with route-based code splitting and skeleton UI. We've built our own design system, documented in an extensive Storybook.
We sweat the UI/UX details and work collaboratively with Product throughout the design process - from lo-fi wireframes through Figma and into code. Our frontend is built on top of our REST API and GraphQL endpoints, backed by a Python/Flask/FastAPI, MongoDB, Postgres and Elasticsearch stack running on AWS.
We love open sourcing our code and ideas on our GitHub and on The Making of Close, our behind-the-scenes Product & Engineering blog. Check our projects such as react-custom-scroller, use-infinite-scroll, use-abortable-effect, and smart-tooltip-delay or insights from our day-to-day work like Under the Hood: Developing Close's AI-Powered Call Assistant, Cutting our Lead page LCP by half, and Highlights From a Complex Downshift.js Refactor.
AI is both how we build and what we ship, and that's reshaped what engineering looks like. This is a transformation we’re embracing and find deeply exciting.
The Growth team owns the surfaces that turn someone who just signed up into a paying customer who sticks around — onboarding, activation, billing and checkout. The operating mode is simple: find the fastest path to learning, ship it, then standardize and clean up. The Growth team ships in weeks what other teams might take months to do.
Two of our exciting projects right now:
One thing to know up front: we do move people between teams as the work shifts. Most engineers here end up on more than one team over their time at Close.
Tech you'll touch: TypeScript, React, Vite, Amplitude, CSS Modules, Storybook, Playwright, WebSockets — plus the agent stack behind Chloe.

We ask a few role-specific questions as part of our application process. These questions are designed to help us learn more about you from the start, so please answer each one thoughtfully. We see this as an opportunity to get to know you beyond your resume.
We use AI tools daily at Close and expect candidates to do the same. In evaluating your application, we aim to get a sense for you - the way you think, how you communicate, the work you've done. Applications that read as fully AI-generated will not be considered.
Regardless of fit, you can expect to hear back from our team with an update on the status of your candidacy.
If you progress to the interview process, you'll receive a full outline of the role-specific steps in your first touchpoint with us. We do our best to make the hiring process clear and human.

Close's open roles are posted as 100% remote and USA-only, and the postings ask that candidates be based in a US time zone (ET, CT, MT, or PT). Benefits such as the 401(k) and the medical plans are listed for US residents specifically. Candidates outside the United States should check an individual posting for eligibility before applying.
The careers page lays out a set sequence: an application review, a video intro call, a skills assessment (a 3 to 6 hour take-home that Close says it never uses as real work product), one or two video interviews with potential colleagues, a final video interview with one of the co-founders or the VP of Engineering, and reference checks.
Highlights from Close's careers page and job postings include 5 weeks of PTO to start that grows by 2 days for every year of tenure, plus a one-week company-wide winter holiday break, and a fully disconnected, paid 4-week sabbatical every 5 years. Two of the headline items are gated to US residents: a 401(k) matched up to 6% and vested immediately, and medical, dental, and vision coverage where Close pays 99% of the monthly premium.
Yes. The careers page states it directly: "We use AI tools daily at Close and expect candidates to do the same."
Some do. Close states its approach on its job postings: "Our compensation ranges and final offers are determined by a number of factors, including level, experience, and geographic location." Not every opening lists a range, so check the individual posting.
