RevenueCat

150 employees
Fully Remote

RevenueCat is subscription infrastructure for app developers. Its API and SDKs power in-app purchases, manage customer data, and grow revenue across iOS, Android, and the web, for everyone from a solo dev in Brazil to the OpenAI mobile team. Founded in 2017, this Y Combinator company runs fully remote with a stated mission of helping developers make more money.

RevenueCat's Remote Policy

From their job postings :
"We're a remote-first crew of 150+, spread across 25+ countries, and guided by values we actually practice: Customer Obsession, Always Be Shipping, Own It, and Balance."

On their public blog they set the async expectation directly:
"Overall, we should always aim to minimize the number of synchronous calls we have. Anyone setting up a call should first consider if there is an asynchronous way to achieve the same outcome (the only exception is regular 1:1 meetings)." They describe Balance as "maintaining a certain right to disconnect" and warn against "urgency theater."

Flexible Hours

Work is async-first: employees pick the hours where they do their best work, decisions are recorded in Notion and Slack, and there is no expectation of an instant response. Three of 21 openings carry a time-zone-narrowed region label, though no posting body states a time-zone requirement.

Why RevenueCat

RevenueCat says it is now in more than 40% of newly shipped subscription apps and processes over $12B in annual purchase volume. What is more unusual is how much of its operating manual it publishes. The four company values carry sub-principles that read like instructions rather than posters: Customer Obsession ("Customers Are The Only Reason We Exist"), Always Be Shipping ("Iterate Quickly", "Default to Action"), Own It ("See something, do something."), and Balance, which spells out "Maintain a Controlled Burn", "Work is not Your Life", and "Keep Boundaries and Respect Boundaries". Hiring follows the same publish-first habit: salary is stated in every job description, and the company does not negotiate offers, a policy it explains in public as a way to preserve fairness and internal equity.

Communication norms are written down and specific. The public communication guide tells the team to treat Slack as asynchronous and not expect an instant response, to skip "Hi" openers that interrupt someone without communicating anything, and to disable notifications on mobile. Conclusions of conversations get recorded in Notion and Slack, because, as the company puts it, "being a distributed company, we rely heavily on our written communication." Transparency is the default rather than a request: "Apart from a few sensitive topics, discussions about the product, the team, and the company should be held in the open." Beyond the core product, RevenueCat runs Shipaton, an annual public hackathon, publishes the Sub Club podcast, and operates RC Capital as a named internal product line. Co-founders Jacob Eiting and Miguel Carranza still lead as CEO and CTO.
