Dave is a financial app on a mission to build products that level the financial playing field. It is redefining the financial landscape by leveraging technology to create an affordable, transparent, and user-centric access to liquidity for millions of Americans. As a leading innovator in the U.S. financial services sector, Dave’s digital financial platform offers products designed to meet the credit needs of those underserved by traditional financial institutions. Dave’s offerings include its flagship ExtraCash product, providing members up to $500 within minutes. The company is on track to launch several new product offerings in 2026, including a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) option.
Dave is focused on serving Americans who are financially vulnerable or living paycheck to paycheck. Dave is leading the charge in creating a new era of credit products that prioritizes speed, affordability, and accessibility, making it the go-to financial partner for those who need it most.
Dave is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our EC Card team. This squad is building a new charge card product that expands how members access ExtraCash — giving them a physical card they can use for everyday purchases.
This is a zero-to-one product with meaningful technical and business complexity. You’ll lead a team of engineers building systems that are reliable, scalable, and deeply connected to the member experience. You’ll partner closely with Product, Design, Risk, and peer Engineering teams to shape both the product roadmap and the engineering approach behind it.
This role reports to the Senior Engineering Manager.
As an Engineering Manager at Dave, you’ll help create the environment where strong engineering work and thoughtful collaboration can thrive. You’ll support engineers in their growth while guiding the team through product decisions, technical trade-offs, and evolving priorities.
You’ll play an active role in shaping how the EC Card platform is built — from architecture and delivery practices to long-term maintainability and product quality. Not everything will be fully defined, and that’s part of the opportunity. You’ll help connect day-to-day execution to broader member impact and company goals.
The EC Card team is building a foundational product that expands access to Dave’s financial tools in a more flexible and everyday way. Your work will directly influence how members interact with Dave and help shape the future of our lending and payments ecosystem.
Familiarity with our tech stack:
Typescript / Node.js
You take ownership of outcomes, not just deliverables. You think beyond individual tickets or short-term fixes and understand how engineering decisions affect members, operational scale, and the broader business. You care about building systems that hold up over time and know how to make thoughtful trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
You also work well across functions and perspectives. You collaborate closely with Product, Design, and partner teams, communicate clearly through ambiguity, and use feedback to sharpen both technical and team decisions. You help create an environment where engineers can do strong, sustainable work together.
Dave moves quickly, but we value thoughtful execution over constant urgency. Priorities evolve as we learn from data, member behavior, and business needs. In this role, you’ll have meaningful autonomy and influence, along with strong partnership from experienced leaders and cross-functional teams.
You’ll be trusted to help shape both the product and the way the team operates.
Don’t let imposter syndrome get in the way of an incredible opportunity. We’re looking for people who can help us achieve our mission and vision, not just check off the boxes. If you’re excited about this role, we encourage you to apply. You may just be the right candidate for this or other roles.
At Dave, our people are just as important as our product. Our culture reflects the values that guide who we are, how we work, and what we aspire to be. Anywhere in the United States except Hawaii. Dave is a fully virtual company with flexible hours, so you choose where in the U.S. you are based rather than relocating to an office.
No. Dave does not differentiate pay based on work location, so you receive the same competitive pay wherever in the U.S. you are based. Its job postings publish salary bands, for example roughly $150K to $200K for senior product manager roles and $174K to $224K for a lead machine learning scientist, each plus equity or commission.
Dave lists flexible paid time off that includes Juneteenth and a winter break, a 401(k) with company match, free financial advising, generous parental and caregiver leave, comprehensive health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, and a home office stipend.
Dave brings teams together one to two times per year and runs team offsites, so most collaboration happens virtually with periodic in-person gatherings rather than a regular office commute.
Hiring skews technical. Engineering is the largest function, followed by operations, with active openings across machine learning, software engineering, data analysis, product management, and IT systems. It is a strong fit for people who want ownership and visible impact at a growing fintech and are comfortable with shifting priorities.
Dave posts its open roles, each with its salary band, on the Dave careers page, and you apply directly through the listing.
