Mapbox is looking for a Senior Director of HR Operations and Total Rewards to scale and strengthen the systems that support our global team. In this role you will lead our global HR Operations, Total Rewards (Compensation & Benefits), and People Analytics, ensuring our systems and processes are thoughtful, scalable, and aligned to how we build our teams and products.
This is a high-impact and hands-on role. You will manage a talented team including a Benefits lead, a Compensation individual contributor, and an Operations manager who oversees the global Operations team. You will own the People technology roadmap and lead the charge in finding practical ways to integrate AI into our workflows to transform our data and operations into a strategic, high-velocity asset.
Advanced People Analytics: Move us from descriptive reporting to advanced, predictive analytics. Build the models that help us understand global headcount trends, pay equity, and organizational health - enabling smarter, faster decisions across leadership.
12+ years of experience in People Ops and Total Rewards, meaningful time spent in high-growth, remote-friendly tech environments.

Our total annual cash compensation for this role ranges from $261,375 - $353,625 for most US locations and 5% to 10% higher for US locations with a higher cost of labor. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location. Mapbox does not display salary bands on its job board by default. Compensation ranges appear in the body of a posting only where local law requires it, such as in certain US states and in Poland. Outside those jurisdictions, compensation is discussed later in the hiring process rather than published upfront.
Mapbox recruits what it calls builders, innovators, and map nerds, and assesses candidates against eleven published values, including Bias for Action, Ownership, Disagree and Commit, and Drive the Highest Standards. The interview guidance stresses honesty about mistakes, data-driven reasoning, and speaking to your individual contribution rather than your team's. Candidates drawn to geospatial problems, navigation, and real-time data at scale tend to fit well.
Engineering is organized around Mapbox's product lines: navigation SDKs for mobile and automotive, routing and directions, search and geocoding, HD and SD map building through the RAVE teams, a data platform, and traffic and telemetry systems.
