Senior HR Business Partner (Austin)

Coder is growing from about 220 to 500 people by the end of 2027, and our People team is growing with us. We work in pods (GTM, R&D, G&A), each with its own HRBP and Generalist, so leaders always know who to call.

You'll be the HR partner for our R&D leaders, and the international employment expert for the UK, our Employer of Record (EOR) countries, and APAC. This is a foundational hire for our London entity buildout, and you'll work alongside a London-based Generalist and outside UK counsel.

What you'll do

• Partner with R&D leaders on performance, org design, employee relations, and people strategy, and flag risks early
• Advise on international ER and org changes under local law, and know when to bring in outside counsel for high-risk matters such as redundancy and terminations
• Help build our UK employment infrastructure with Legal and Finance: contracts, probation and notice terms, right to work, statutory leave, policies, and benefits
• Manage our EOR relationships (Deel, Rippling) and plan the path from EOR to direct employment in key markets
• Track regulatory changes in the UK and our active EOR countries, including the Employment Rights Act changes, and proactively flag risks
• Own performance, compensation cycles, promotions, and leveling for the pod with the HR Manager and Total Rewards
• Build repeatable country playbooks so each new market doesn't start from scratch

• Keep international employee data accurate in Rippling and Deel, and support audits and reporting

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of HRBP experience, including employee relations, with meaningful UK and/or international exposure
• Strong working knowledge of UK employment law, and familiarity with EOR models and their limitations
• Hands-on experience with Rippling and/or Deel
• Comfort working independently across time zones, with early UK-hours overlap and occasional UK travel
• Detail-oriented enough to catch a contract or comp error before it ships, and strategic enough to know when to escalate

• Extremely collaborative, working closely with a US- and London-based team

Bonus tacos if you have

(Tacos? Ask us how we say thanks by giving tacos!)

• Preferred: SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent hands-on HR experience
• Experience supporting a company through a legal entity launch
• Exposure to APAC or EMEA employment law beyond the UK
• Experience partnering with engineering or R&D teams in a high-growth SaaS company

As our international footprint grows, this role is expected to grow in scope and strategic ownership.

Interview process

We believe that the interview process should be transparent, consistent, and enjoyable. We value your time and hope to complete the interview process in two to four weeks, if schedules allow. Through your interviews, you will meet a mix of individual contributors, managers, and senior leaders.

AI use during the interview process

As an AI company, Coder embraces the use of AI tools, and we want to be transparent about our expectations as you navigate our interview process.

Not permitted: Using AI assistance during conversational interviews.

Permitted: Using AI tooling for take-home assessments. Please flag where and to what extent it was used in your take-home. Your submission will not be penalized for using AI as long as it is done honestly.

Our use of AI in hiring

We use AI tools to help manage our recruitment process efficiently and fairly. Specifically:

• Ashby and Brainerr help us review inbound applications by surfacing candidates who best match the role requirements we've defined. This tool does not make hiring decisions; it helps our team prioritize which applications to review first.
• Granola takes notes during our interview calls so our team can focus on the conversation with you.

All hiring decisions are made by humans. Our team reviews applications, conducts interviews, and makes final selections. AI tools assist us but never replace human judgment, and these practices are conducted in compliance with applicable data protection, AI governance, and labor laws. Your data is not used to train AI models.

In accordance with New York City Local Law 144, an independent bias audit has been conducted on "Automated Employment Decision Tools"; results are available for Ashby.

If you're applying for a role at Coder and have questions about how we use AI in our process, or if you'd like to request information about the data we collect, please contact careers@coder.com.
