It depends on the role and where you live. SafetyWing's careers FAQ says that because it hires globally, people join as either an employee or a contractor based on role and location, and that everyone is considered an equal member of the team regardless of how the contract is structured.
SafetyWing's interview guide says most roles involve five to six stages, including conversations with the recruiting team, the hiring manager, team members and the founders, with the full process taking 6 to 8 weeks depending on the role. The company also commits that candidates always hear back, whether or not they move forward.
Paid time off is unlimited, including sick days, with a mandated minimum of four weeks off a year. Parental leave is full pay for up to 4 months for birth mothers and 2 months for co-parents. Team members are covered by the company's own products: Remote Health where they live and Nomad Insurance wherever they travel.
Yes. The careers page lists up to $1,000 to $2,500 a year for online courses, conferences, books, mentors and coaches, plus $500 a year to upgrade a workspace or pay for co-working. Full-time team members also get a laptop that is theirs to keep, and each month there is $25 to share a meal, virtually or in person, with a teammate.
Yes. The careers page describes working in person with your smaller team or the whole company in places around the world, with past trips to Tulum, Madeira, Bali, Iceland and Colombia. SafetyWing also describes an annual team gathering, with previous meetups in Indonesia, Iceland, Vietnam and Argentina, and in November 2024 the company gathered in Hoi An, Vietnam, to celebrate what it called the Year of Quality.
A lot, by the company's account. The careers page says that other than a couple of scheduled team meetings, you get a lot of freedom to manage how you work best and are most productive.
